This is a traditional Japanese massage, performed primarily by the fingers &
palm pressing deeply into pressure points on the body in order to relieve tension
and promote good circulation. It is also sometimes referred to as Shiatsu
massage, which uses the same technique. It is particularly good for people who
have sore muscles or stiffness. No oil is used in this massage.

Originally, depending on the shape of our body, this kind of activity occurred while we were active. However in modern times, our eating patterns have changed and the amount of exercise we do has lessened. Japanese Organic Facial Massage
Our massage technique utilises the same facial brush and finger techniques used on Geisha and Kabuki actors, two professions which are both very stressful and place many demands upon the face. Every time our face assumes an expression, we make use of the facial muscles which lie under the skin, and all of this work can lead to tension and other problems in these muscles. Rice Bran Gommage
In ancient times, Japanese people had a very close relationship with rice and it was the major dish of sustenance as it was the only carbohydrate rich food available to them. One of the by-products of rice is rice bran, which was used by women during beauty treatment. In particular, it was known for making the skin more beautiful without the need for cosmetics. This wisdom was passed down through the generations from mother to daughter, and so is still widely believed today.
Scientifically, this can be explained by the presence of Oleic acid and Linoleic acid in rice bran. These two acids have both anti-oxidant and preservative properties. Rice bran also contains a large quantity of vitamin E, which is known to aid the vitamin C occurring naturally in your skin in improving the appearance of your skin, making it more beautiful and youthful looking.
The modern treatment utilised by Japanese women uses this ancient wisdom and couples it with the gommage by taking rice bran oil and soaking it into organic clay. This rice bran soaked clay is then applied to the skin and rubbed in gently using a herb-filled scrubbing bag. When the gommage is removed, it takes with it the outer layer of dead skin, leaving your skin feeling refreshed and revitalised. Finally, we apply silk cream to your skin for moisturisation.
