Dr. Towel Luxurious Japanese Towels
-Recommended for use by people with sensitive or delicate skin-
The Dr towel range of products come from a small region in south western Japan known as Imabari. Imabari is located in Ehime prefecture on the island of Shikoku, and has long been known as one of the world's leading cotton and towel producing areas. It is also quite famous for its dyeing industry.
Originally, during the Edo period (1603 ~ 1867), Imabari was known only for cotton production, however, at the beginning of the Meiji period (1867) they began to produce towels. This naturally lead to the further development of the local dyeing industry as the two industries naturally share a symbiotic relationship.
These days, Imabari is particularly known for it's extremely high quality towels, one of the leading examples of which is The Dr. Towel range. These towels are made from Supima cotton and were developed because of repeated requests from doctors, beauticians and other professional specialists for towels that would meet their demanding standards. They needed finer, softer towels for use on their clients or patients.
These towels have especially short pile which means that it is very difficult for the threads to come loose and the towels are especially soft and kind on the skin. The pile is also thinner than a human hair which adds to the towel's feeling of softness and luxury.
Washing your Dr Towel Products
These towels may be machine washed, however, it is recommended not to use washing powder that contains any fluorescent dyes. It is also recommended that you do not use fabric softener when washing the towels.
